ABOUT NICHOLAS

With an aptitude and interest in math emerging early, at age 4 Nicholas was counting the tips his mother made as a waitress, and by 4th grade he was teaching Algebra to other students. Upon graduation from college (Old Dominion), he earned a Bachelor of Arts—majoring in Asian studies and minoring in Information Systems & Technology, with a TEFL cerrtification—Nicholas launched a teaching career in 2009. Specializing in mathematics, he has taught all subjects, from P.E. to Latin; he has also taught as a substitute and as a tutor. Having studied Chinese and Japanese, Nicholas has worked abroad for a number of years and has taught ages 6 to 64, organized field trips, proctored final assessments, modeled, and advertised for the private school.

Nicholas's interests include Magic the Gathering, and he enjoys books such as Dune and The Silmarillion, shows like Doctor Who (BBC), Myster Science Theatre 3000. He comes from a background of hard work, financing his studies from a landscaping business, and is very much a family man, helping to raise and educate numerous family members.

In addition to his specialty in Mathematics, with his experience and time abroad, Nicholas is adept with other cultures and has been certified to teach English as a foreign language. He is flexible with scheduling and locations and will customize around the needs of the student(s) and their families; he can teach in the home, at another location (such as a school or library), and also virtually (online). He also consults for clients, companies, and groups on his specialties in matters of learning, teaching, education, and projects.

RATES

Nicholas is similarly flexible with rates, which are affordable and below industry standards, and schedules can be set up as hourly, daily, weekly, or for extended periods.
